History
The Cappelletti or "CAPULETI" (in some texts) is a historical Lombard family that originated from Cremona. They belonged to the Guelph faction -Whites- and in 1300 moved to central Italy when the Blasck-Ghibelins in Cremona won the war and all the Whites had to escape from the town. In the centuries the family has had a tradition as a supporter of the Pope. This is why the Cappelletti of this part of Umbria settled in Castel Ritaldi where the Guelph faction was dominating while in Spoleto "the Blacks" ruled the medieval town. In 1866 the estate of Campogrande, a former property of the State of the Church was sold by public auction and bought by my great-great grandmother Maria and since then after six generations we still live here.
